Treat your ingredients with care...
- Dried fruits — Ensure the dried fruits are plump and moist. If they seem dry, you can soak them in warm water for a few minutes before using.
- Black tea — Use a strong black tea, such as Assam or Irish breakfast tea, to infuse the fruits with a robust flavor.
Tips & Tricks
- For an extra burst of flavor, you can soak the dried fruits in Irish whiskey instead of black tea.
- Serve the Barmbrack warm with a dollop of whipped cream or custard for a decadent treat.
- If you prefer a lighter texture, you can substitute half of the all-purpose flour with cake flour.
- Customize the dried fruits to your liking by adding chopped dates, dried cranberries, or apricots.
- To keep the Barmbrack fresh, store it in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
Serving advice
