- Dried apricots — Chop the apricots into small pieces for even distribution throughout the pilaf.
- Vegetable broth — Use a high-quality vegetable broth to enhance the overall flavor of the dish.
- Fresh cilantro or parsley — Use either herb for garnish based on personal preference.
Tips & Tricks
- For added richness, you can toast the basmati rice in the pot with a little oil before adding the spices and broth.
- If you prefer a sweeter pilaf, you can add a tablespoon of honey or maple syrup to the rice along with the dried apricots.
- Feel free to customize the spice blend by adding a pinch of ground cloves or nutmeg for extra warmth and complexity.
- To make the dish more substantial, you can add toasted slivered almonds or pine nuts to the pilaf before serving.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in the microwave or on the stovetop.
