Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Tuna — Make sure to grill the tuna steak to your desired doneness. Overcooking can result in a dry texture.
  • Ftira bread — If you can't find ftira bread, you can substitute it with a similar flatbread like focaccia or ciabatta.

Tips & Tricks

  • For an extra kick of flavor, you can add a drizzle of balsamic glaze or a sprinkle of dried oregano to the filling.
  • If you prefer a spicier version, you can add a few slices of chili pepper to the filling.
  • Feel free to customize the ingredients based on your preferences. You can add or substitute ingredients like roasted eggplant, feta cheese, or fresh basil.

Serving advice

Serve the Ftira tar-Randan with a side of mixed greens or a refreshing cucumber and tomato salad. It pairs well with a glass of chilled white wine or a traditional Maltese soft drink called Kinnie.

Presentation advice

To enhance the presentation, you can garnish the plate with a sprig of fresh parsley or a drizzle of olive oil. Serve the ftira wedges on a wooden cutting board or a colorful platter to make it visually appealing.
