Preparation

  1. 1.
In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat the fresh cream over medium heat.

Continue stirring until the mixture thickens further and starts to leave the sides of the pan.

Add the cardamom powder and saffron strands, and mix well.
  6. 6.
Remove the mixture from heat and allow it to cool slightly.
  7. 7.
Grease your hands with a little ghee or butter and shape the mixture into small balls.

Garnish each laddu with chopped pistachios or almonds.
  9. 9.
Let the laddus cool completely before serving.

Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Fresh cream — Use full-fat fresh cream for the best results. Avoid using cream with additives or stabilizers.
  • Condensed milk — If you prefer a less sweet version, reduce the amount of condensed milk slightly.
  • Saffron strands — Soak the saffron strands in a tablespoon of warm milk for a few minutes before adding them to the mixture. This helps release their vibrant color and aroma.

Tips & Tricks

  • To enhance the flavor, you can add a pinch of nutmeg or cinnamon powder along with the cardamom.
  • For a festive touch, roll the laddus in desiccated coconut or edible silver foil before garnishing with nuts.
  • If the mixture becomes too thick while cooking, add a tablespoon of milk to adjust the consistency.
  • Store the laddus in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
