1.Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

2.In a large skillet, cook the diced bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet and set aside.

3.In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and minced garlic, and sauté until they turn golden brown.

4.Grease a baking dish with butter. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the dish, followed by half of the cooked bacon, onions, and garlic. Sprinkle half of the grated Livonian cheese over the top. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.

5.Pour the heavy cream evenly over the layers and season with salt and pepper.

6.Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes or until the top is golden and the potatoes are tender.
