Treat your ingredients with care...
- Ground beef, pork, and veal — Make sure to use lean ground meats for a healthier meatloaf. If desired, you can substitute ground chicken or turkey for any of the meats.
- Lingonberry sauce — If lingonberry sauce is not available, you can substitute it with cranberry sauce or red currant jelly for a similar tangy flavor.
Tips & Tricks
- For added flavor, you can sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic before adding them to the meat mixture.
- To ensure a moist meatloaf, avoid overmixing the ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Letting the meatloaf rest for a few minutes after baking allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more flavorful and tender meatloaf.
- Serve the Swedish-style Testa di Turco with a side of creamy mashed potatoes and lingonberry jam for a traditional Swedish meal.
- Leftover meatloaf can be sliced and used in sandwiches or served cold as part of a picnic spread.
