- Potatoes — Make sure to slice the potatoes thinly and evenly to ensure even cooking throughout the dish.
- Smoked bacon — Opt for a high-quality smoked bacon to enhance the smoky flavor of the Tierteg.
- Gruyère cheese — Use a good-quality Gruyère cheese for its rich and nutty flavor.
Tips & Tricks
- For a vegetarian version, substitute the bacon with thinly sliced mushrooms sautéed in olive oil.
- Add a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese on top for an extra cheesy crust.
- Serve the Tierteg with a dollop of sour cream or Greek yogurt for added creaminess.
- Experiment with different types of cheese, such as Emmental or Cheddar, for a unique twist.
- Leftovers can be reheated in the oven or enjoyed cold the next day.
Serving advice
Serve the Tierteg hot, straight from the oven, as the cheese will be gooey and the flavors at their peak. Pair it with a fresh green salad or steamed vegetables for a balanced meal.
Presentation advice
To present the Tierteg beautifully, cut it into square portions and garnish with a sprig of fresh thyme. The golden crust and layers of potatoes, bacon, and cheese will create an enticing visual appeal.
