Ingredients
In the original Panamanian dish Arroz con apio, the celery is the star ingredient, whereas in the Hmong-style Celery Rice, we have adapted the dish to incorporate the flavors and spices commonly used in Hmong cuisine. The addition of Hmong spices such as ginger, garlic, and chili peppers gives the dish a distinct Hmong flavor profile. Additionally, the cooking technique and the combination of vegetables have been modified to suit the Hmong culinary traditions. Preparation

1.Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat.

2.Add the onion, garlic, ginger, and chili pepper to the skillet and sauté until fragrant.

3.Add the celery and carrot to the skillet and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until slightly tender.

4.Add the cooked rice to the skillet and stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes, breaking up any clumps.

5.Drizzle the soy sauce and oyster sauce (if using) over the rice and vegetables. Stir well to combine.

6.Season with salt and pepper to taste.

7.Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the flavors are well incorporated.

8.Remove from heat and garnish with fresh cilantro.
