Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Beef — For a more tender result, slice the beef against the grain.
  • Thai bird's eye chilies — Adjust the amount of chilies according to your spice preference. Remove the seeds for a milder heat.
  • Toasted rice powder — To make toasted rice powder, simply toast uncooked rice in a dry skillet until golden brown, then grind it into a fine powder using a spice grinder or mortar and pestle.

Tips & Tricks

  • For an extra burst of flavor, add a squeeze of fresh lime juice over the salad before serving.
  • If you prefer a milder salad, remove the seeds from the Thai bird's eye chilies.
  • To make the salad more filling, serve it with a side of steamed jasmine rice.
  • Customize the salad by adding thinly sliced red bell peppers or bean sprouts for extra crunch.
  • If you can't find palm sugar, substitute it with brown sugar or honey.
