Preparation
-
1.In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, lime juice, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, honey, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, dried oregano, chili powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Mix well to create the marinade.
-
2.Place the thinly sliced beef in a large ziplock bag and pour the marinade over it. Seal the bag and massage the marinade into the beef. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for maximum flavor.
-
3.Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked to your desired level of doneness.
-
4.Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and red bell pepper. Cook for 5-6 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender and slightly charred.
-
5.Return the cooked beef to the skillet and toss with the vegetables to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
-
6.Serve the Latin American Bulgogi hot, garnished with fresh cilantro. Enjoy with steamed rice or warm tortillas.
Treat your ingredients with care...
- Beef — Choose a tender cut of beef like sirloin for the best results. Slice it thinly against the grain to ensure tenderness.
- Hot sauce — Adjust the amount of hot sauce according to your spice preference. Feel free to use a milder or hotter variety based on your taste.
Tips & Tricks
- For a smoky flavor, grill the marinated beef instead of cooking it in a skillet.
- Serve the Latin American Bulgogi with a squeeze of fresh lime juice for an extra burst of citrusy flavor.
- If you prefer a milder version, reduce the amount of cayenne pepper or omit it altogether.
- Add a splash of tequila or rum to the marinade for a boozy twist.
- Leftovers can be used to make delicious tacos or quesadillas.
Serving advice
