Ingredients

In this Vanuatuan adaptation of the Francheezie, we incorporate traditional Vanuatuan spices and flavors to enhance the dish. Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Vanuatuan sausages — Look for locally sourced sausages with a good balance of spices and meat. If unavailable, you can use any high-quality sausages with a mild flavor.
  • Bacon — Choose thick-cut bacon for better wrapping and crispiness.
  • Cheddar cheese — Opt for a sharp cheddar cheese for a more pronounced flavor.
  • Turmeric — Use ground turmeric for convenience, but fresh turmeric can be used if available.
  • Ginger powder — If you prefer a stronger ginger flavor, you can substitute it with freshly grated ginger.

Tips & Tricks

  • For an extra kick of heat, add a pinch of chili powder or cayenne pepper to the spice mixture.
  • Serve the Vanuatuan Francheezie with a side of tangy tomato chutney or a tropical fruit salsa for a refreshing contrast.
  • If you prefer a milder flavor, reduce the amount of spices used in the recipe.
  • Experiment with different types of cheese, such as mozzarella or pepper jack, for a unique twist.
  • To make the dish more Vanuatuan, serve it with a side of taro fries or yam chips.

Serving advice

Serve the Vanuatuan Francheezie hot as a main dish, accompanied by a fresh green salad or steamed vegetables. The dish is best enjoyed immediately after frying, while the cheese is still gooey and the bacon is crispy.

Presentation advice

Arrange the Vanuatuan Francheezie on a platter, allowing the melted cheese to ooze out enticingly. Garnish with fresh herbs, such as cilantro or parsley, for a pop of color. Serve with a side of tomato chutney or fruit salsa to enhance the visual appeal.
