Preparation

1.Drain the soaked lentils and transfer them to a blender. Add chopped onion, minced garlic, grated ginger, green chili, cumin seeds, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Blend until you get a smooth batter.

2.Grease a steamer plate or a round baking dish with oil. Pour the lentil batter into the greased plate and spread it evenly.

3.Steam the lentil batter for about 15-20 minutes or until it is cooked through and firm. Remove from the steamer and let it cool.

4.Once cooled, cut the steamed lentil batter into small dumplings of desired shape.

5.Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Let them splutter.

6.Add chopped onion, minced garlic, and grated ginger to the pan. Sauté until the onions turn golden brown.

7.Add tomato puree, garam masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook the gravy for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
