Treat your ingredients with care...
- Turnips — Make sure to peel the turnips before cubing them to remove the tough outer skin.
- Whisky — Use a good quality whisky that you enjoy drinking, as it will greatly impact the flavor of the sauce.
Tips & Tricks
- For a smokier flavor, you can use a peated whisky.
- If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can reduce the cream by half before adding it to the whisky.
- Feel free to adjust the seasoning according to your taste preferences.
Serving advice
Neeps and Tatties with Whisky Cream Sauce is best served hot as a side dish alongside traditional Scottish dishes like haggis or roasted meats. It can also be enjoyed on its own as a comforting vegetarian main course.
Presentation advice
To enhance the presentation, use a piping bag to create attractive swirls of the mashed neeps and tatties on the plate. Garnish with a sprinkle of fresh chives for a pop of color.
