Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  5. 5.
Place a portion of the sausage mixture along the center of each pastry rectangle.
  6. 6.

  10. 10.
Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.

Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Puff pastry — Ensure that the puff pastry is thawed properly before using it. If using frozen pastry, follow the instructions on the package for defrosting. Handle the pastry gently to maintain its flakiness.
  • Sausage meat — Opt for high-quality sausage meat with a good balance of fat and lean meat for the best flavor and texture.

Tips & Tricks

  • For added flavor, you can mix in grated cheese or caramelized onions with the sausage meat.
  • To make mini sausage rolls, cut the pastry into smaller rectangles and adjust the cooking time accordingly.
  • Serve the sausage rolls warm or at room temperature for the best taste and texture.
  • If you prefer a shiny golden crust, brush the pastry with milk instead of egg wash.
  • Experiment with different herbs and spices to customize the flavor of the sausage rolls.

Serving advice

Serve the homemade sausage rolls as a delicious appetizer, snack, or as part of a picnic spread. They can be enjoyed on their own or paired with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ketchup, mustard, or a tangy chutney.

Presentation advice

Arrange the sausage rolls on a platter or a wooden board, garnished with fresh herbs like parsley or thyme, for an inviting presentation. You can also sprinkle some sesame seeds or poppy seeds on top of the pastry before baking for an added visual appeal.
