Ingredients
In this adaptation, we have replaced the traditional Polish cottage cheese with cream cheese, which is commonly used in Northeastern American cheesecakes. The graham cracker crust adds a distinct American touch, providing a buttery and crunchy base. Additionally, the addition of lemon zest enhances the tangy flavor profile, which is a popular characteristic of Northeastern American cheesecakes. We alse have the original recipe for Sernik, so you can check it out.

Treat your ingredients with care...
- Cream Cheese — Make sure the cream cheese is softened at room temperature before using to ensure a smooth and creamy texture.
- Graham Cracker Crumbs — You can either buy pre-made graham cracker crumbs or crush graham crackers in a food processor until finely ground.
Tips & Tricks
- To prevent cracks on the surface of the cheesecake, avoid overmixing the batter and do not open the oven door during baking.
- For a smoother texture, strain the cream cheese mixture before pouring it into the crust.
- Allow the cheesecake to cool gradually by turning off the oven and leaving the door slightly ajar for 10 minutes before removing it.
- For a decorative touch, pipe whipped cream around the edges of the cheesecake before garnishing with fresh berries.
- To achieve clean slices, dip a sharp knife in hot water and wipe it clean between each cut.
Serving advice
Serve each slice of cheesecake chilled for the best texture and flavor. Accompany it with a dollop of whipped cream and a few fresh berries on top for an elegant presentation.
Presentation advice
To enhance the visual appeal, dust the top of the cheesecake with a sprinkle of powdered sugar before adding the whipped cream and berries. Place a mint leaf or a drizzle of chocolate sauce as a finishing touch.
