Treat your ingredients with care...
- Soy sauce — Opt for low-sodium soy sauce if you prefer a less salty flavor.
- Mirin — If you don't have mirin, you can substitute it with a combination of equal parts rice vinegar and sugar.
- Rice vinegar — Use unseasoned rice vinegar for the best results.
- Sesame oil — Toasted sesame oil adds a deeper flavor, but regular sesame oil works well too.
- Ginger — Freshly grated ginger provides the best flavor, but you can use ground ginger as a substitute.
Tips & Tricks
- For a stronger flavor, marinate the eggs overnight.
- Adjust the marinating time to your preference. Longer marinating time will result in a more intense flavor.
- Experiment with adding other seasonings such as chili flakes or sesame seeds to the marinade for a personalized touch.
- Serve the eggs as a topping for ramen, in a bento box, or as a side dish with steamed rice.
- To achieve a perfectly soft-boiled egg, adjust the boiling time based on your preference.
