Preparation

1.Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent.

2.Add the beef cubes to the pot and cook until browned on all sides.

3.Stir in the ground cumin, ground coriander, paprika, and turmeric. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to toast the spices.

4.Add the basmati rice to the pot and stir to coat it with the spices.

5.Pour in the beef broth and season with salt to taste. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.

6.Remove the pot from the heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

7.Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
