Preparation

1.Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

2.Cut the filo pastry sheets into squares or rectangles, approximately 10x10cm (4x4 inches) in size.

3.Place the pastry squares on a baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Set aside to cool.

4.In a saucepan, combine the milk, heavy cream, and granulated sugar. Scrape the seeds from the vanilla bean and add them to the saucepan, along with the bean itself.

5.Heat the mixture over medium heat until it reaches a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.

6.In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and a splash of cold milk until smooth.

7.Slowly pour the cornstarch mixture into the simmering milk mixture, whisking constantly.

11.To assemble the Blejska Grmada, place a layer of crispy pastry squares in the bottom of individual serving dishes or a large serving dish.
