Preparation
-
1.In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm milk. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
-
2.In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and a pinch of salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
-
3.Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
-
4.Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
-
5.For the sweet filling, mix the ground walnuts, honey, and cinnamon in a bowl. For the savory filling, combine the cooked spinach, feta cheese, and minced garlic.
-
6.Roll out the dough into a thin rectangle. Spread the desired filling evenly over the dough.
-
7.Starting from one of the longer sides, tightly roll the dough into a spiral shape.
-
8.Place the rolled Budla on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
-
9.Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Treat your ingredients with care...
