Ingredients

In the original Indian Coconut Chutney, ingredients like curry leaves, mustard seeds, and urad dal are commonly used to enhance the flavor. However, in the Albanian adaptation, these ingredients are omitted to align with the traditional flavors of Albanian cuisine. Additionally, the Albanian version incorporates fresh herbs like cilantro and mint to add a unique twist to the chutney. Tips & Tricks

  • For a milder version, remove the seeds from the chili pepper before adding it to the chutney.
  • Adjust the consistency of the chutney by adding more or less water while blending.
  • Add a teaspoon of sugar if you prefer a slightly sweeter chutney.
  • Store the chutney in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Serve the chutney at room temperature if you prefer a less chilled version.

Serving advice

Serve the Albanian Coconut Chutney as a side condiment with traditional Albanian dishes such as Tavë Kosi (baked lamb and yogurt casserole) or Fërgesë (baked peppers and tomatoes with cheese). It also pairs well with grilled meats, roasted vegetables, or as a spread on sandwiches and wraps.

Presentation advice

Garnish the chutney with a sprig of fresh mint or cilantro leaves to add a pop of color. Serve it in a small bowl alongside the main dish or as a dipping sauce for appetizers.
