Preparation

1.In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely.

2.In a separate bowl, mix the cornstarch with ½ cup of water until smooth and free of lumps.

3.Slowly pour the cornstarch mixture into the saucepan while stirring continuously.

4.Add the lemon juice and rosewater to the saucepan and continue stirring until the mixture thickens and starts to pull away from the sides of the pan.

5.If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to the mixture and stir until evenly distributed.

6.Grease a square baking dish and pour the mixture into it, smoothing the top with a spatula.

7.Allow the Turkish Delight to cool at room temperature for at least 4 hours or until set.

8.Once set, cut the Turkish Delight into small squares or rectangles.

9.Dust the pieces with powdered sugar to prevent sticking.
