-
2.Drain the soaked rice and transfer it to a steamer lined with a piece of cheesecloth or banana leaf. Steam the rice over medium heat for 30-40 minutes, or until it becomes tender and translucent.
-
3.In a saucepan, heat the coconut milk, sugar, and salt over low heat until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat.
-
4.Transfer the steamed rice to a mixing bowl and pour the coconut milk mixture over it. Stir gently to coat the rice evenly with the coconut milk.

Treat your ingredients with care...
- Glutinous rice — Make sure to rinse the rice thoroughly to remove excess starch before soaking. This will help achieve a fluffy and separate texture after steaming.
- Durian — Choose a ripe durian with a strong aroma for the best flavor. Use a spoon to scoop out the flesh, discarding any seeds or tough parts.
Tips & Tricks
- For an extra creamy texture, you can add a splash of coconut cream to the rice mixture before serving.
- If durian is not available, you can substitute it with other tropical fruits like mango or jackfruit for a similar exotic flavor.
- To enhance the aroma of the sticky rice, you can add a pandan leaf to the steaming process.
- To make the dish more visually appealing, serve it in individual banana leaf cups or small bowls.
- Leftover Pulut Durian can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat gently in a steamer before serving.
Serving advice
Serve Pulut Durian warm or at room temperature for the best flavor and texture. It can be enjoyed as a dessert or a sweet snack.
Presentation advice
To present Pulut Durian beautifully, place a portion of sticky rice in the center of a plate or bowl. Arrange the durian flesh on top, allowing it to cascade down the sides of the rice. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds for an added touch of elegance.
