Treat your ingredients with care...
- Potatoes — Make sure to boil the potatoes until they are soft and easily mashable. This will ensure a smooth and creamy texture for the stuffing.
- Banana leaves — If using banana leaves for lining, briefly heat them over a flame to make them pliable and prevent tearing.
Tips & Tricks
- For added flavor, you can temper the stuffing with mustard seeds, curry leaves, and asafoetida before adding the onions.
- Experiment with different fillings such as paneer (Indian cottage cheese), mixed vegetables, or minced meat for a variation in flavors.
- Serve the Maharashtrian Style Stuffed Štruklji with a side of coconut chutney or tomato chutney for a delightful combination of tastes.
- If you don't have banana leaves or parchment paper, you can also use aluminum foil to line the steamer basket.
