Treat your ingredients with care...
- Salmon — Choose fresh salmon fillets with firm flesh for the best results.
- Mirin — Look for authentic Japanese mirin, which has a sweet and tangy flavor.
- Sake — Use a good-quality sake to enhance the flavors of the marinade.
- Ginger — Grate the ginger just before using to ensure maximum flavor.
- Sesame seeds — Toast the sesame seeds in a dry pan over medium heat until golden brown for a nuttier taste.
Tips & Tricks
- For a caramelized glaze, brush the salmon with the marinade during the last few minutes of grilling.
- If you prefer a milder ginger flavor, reduce the amount of grated ginger.
- Serve the Wafu Teriyaki Salmon with steamed rice and a side of stir-fried vegetables for a complete meal.
- If grilling is not an option, you can also bake the salmon in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for approximately 12-15 minutes.
- To intensify the sesame flavor, lightly toast the sesame seeds before garnishing the dish.
Serving advice
