Preparation

    In a saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

    In a separate bowl, sprinkle gelatin powder over 1/2 cup of cold water. Let it sit for 5 minutes to bloom.

    Place the gelatin mixture over low heat and stir until the gelatin dissolves completely. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

    In a large mixing bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
