Ingredients
While the original Bakso Ayam is typically made with a combination of chicken and beef, our Colombian-style Chicken Meatballs focus solely on ground chicken. We have also incorporated Colombian spices and herbs, such as cumin and fresh cilantro, to give the dish a distinct Colombian flavor profile. Additionally, the traditional Indonesian Bakso Ayam is often served with noodles, whereas our Colombian version is typically enjoyed with rice or potatoes. Treat your ingredients with care...
- Ground chicken — Make sure to use lean ground chicken for a healthier option. If you prefer a juicier texture, you can use a combination of ground chicken breast and thigh meat.
- Fresh cilantro and parsley — To enhance the flavors, finely chop the herbs before adding them to the meatball mixture.
Tips & Tricks
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the meatball mixture.
- If you prefer a thicker broth, you can dissolve a tablespoon of cornstarch in cold water and add it to the simmering broth.
Serving advice
Garnish the Colombian-style Chicken Meatballs with additional fresh cilantro and parsley for a pop of color. Serve with a side of cooked rice or potatoes to soak up the flavorful broth.
