Treat your ingredients with care...
- Beef sirloin — For best results, slice the beef thinly against the grain to ensure tenderness.
- Calamansi juice — If you can't find calamansi juice, you can substitute it with lemon juice for a similar tangy flavor.
- Garlic — Use fresh garlic cloves and mince them finely for maximum flavor infusion.
- Rice — It's best to use day-old cooked rice as it has a drier texture, making it easier to stir-fry.
Tips & Tricks
- For an extra kick of flavor, add a dash of chili flakes or a drizzle of chili sauce to the beef stir-fry.
- To make the garlic rice more aromatic, you can add a small amount of sesame oil during the stir-frying process.
- If you prefer your egg yolk to be fully cooked, you can flip the egg and cook it until desired doneness.
- Customize your Chosilog by adding sautéed vegetables such as bell peppers, onions, or carrots to the beef stir-fry.
- Serve the Chosilog with a side of atchara (Filipino pickled green papaya) for a refreshing contrast to the savory flavors.
Serving advice
Serve the Chosilog hot, straight from the pan, to fully enjoy the flavors and textures of the dish. The runny yolk from the fried egg adds a creamy element to the beef and rice, so make sure to break it and mix it into the dish before eating.
Presentation advice
To enhance the presentation, place the beef stir-fry on one side of the plate and the garlic rice on the other side. Top the beef with the fried egg and garnish with chopped spring onions for a pop of color.
