Treat your ingredients with care...
- Avocado — Choose ripe avocados that are slightly soft to the touch. To prevent browning, drizzle the sliced avocado with lime or lemon juice.
- Pickled jalapenos — If you prefer a milder heat, remove the seeds from the jalapenos before using them in the sandwich.
- Chipotle sauce — Adjust the amount of chipotle sauce according to your spice preference. Add more for extra heat or reduce for a milder flavor.
- Crusty artisan bread — Look for a bread with a thick crust and a soft interior. If you can't find artisan bread, a French baguette or ciabatta can be used as a substitute.
- Meat — For a quicker preparation, you can use pre-cooked shredded beef or pork instead of cooking it from scratch.
Tips & Tricks
- For added flavor, marinate the meat in a mixture of lime juice, garlic, and spices for a few hours before cooking.
- If you prefer a vegetarian version, substitute the meat with grilled vegetables such as zucchini, bell peppers, and onions.
- Customize the toppings to your liking by adding sliced cheese, sliced jalapenos, or a drizzle of hot sauce.
- To make the torta more filling, add a fried egg or some refried beans as an additional layer.
- Serve the torta with a side of Mexican rice and beans for a complete meal.
Serving advice
