1.Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
-
2.Cut the bread slices into small cubes and spread them evenly on a baking sheet.
-
3.Toast the bread cubes in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and crispy.
-
4.In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, sugar, lemon juice, lemon zest, and orange zest. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes to create a syrup.

-
7.In a serving dish, layer the soaked bread cubes, clotted cream, and chopped nuts. Repeat the layers until all the ingredients are used, ending with a layer of clotted cream and nuts on top.
-
8.Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld together.
-
9.Serve chilled and enjoy the delightful combination of flavors and textures.
Treat your ingredients with care...
- Bread — Using day-old bread will ensure that it absorbs the syrup without becoming too soggy.
- Clotted cream — If clotted cream is not available, you can substitute it with whipped cream or Greek yogurt for a similar creamy texture.
- Nuts — Feel free to use your favorite nuts or a combination of different nuts for added variety and flavor.
Tips & Tricks
- For an extra touch of indulgence, drizzle some melted chocolate over the top layer of clotted cream and nuts.
- If you prefer a less sweet dessert, you can reduce the amount of sugar in the syrup.
- Serve the Ekmek Kadayıfı with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delightful contrast of temperatures and flavors.
- To add a hint of warmth, sprinkle a pinch of ground cinnamon over each layer of clotted cream and nuts.
- If you're short on time, you can use store-bought clotted cream instead of making it from scratch.
Serving advice
