Treat your ingredients with care...
- Sticky rice — Make sure to rinse the sticky rice thoroughly to remove excess starch. Soaking the rice before cooking helps achieve a fluffy texture.
- Adzuki beans — Soaking the adzuki beans overnight ensures they cook evenly and become tender.
- Chestnuts — When peeling the chestnuts, make a small incision on the flat side of each chestnut to prevent them from exploding during cooking.
Tips & Tricks
- To add extra flavor, you can sprinkle toasted sesame seeds on top of the Guihan before serving.
- If you prefer a sweeter Guihan, you can add a tablespoon of honey to the sesame oil mixture.
- Guihan can be enjoyed as a main dish or as a side dish alongside other Korean delicacies.
- Leftover Guihan can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in a steamer or microwave.
