Treat your ingredients with care...
- Beef chuck roast — For the best results, choose a well-marbled chuck roast as it will become tender and flavorful when slow-cooked.
- Soy sauce — Use a low-sodium soy sauce if you prefer to control the saltiness of the dish.
- Ginger — Fresh ginger adds a bright and aromatic flavor. Grate it finely for a smoother texture in the sauce.
Tips & Tricks
- For an extra kick of heat, add a pinch of chili flakes or a chopped chili pepper to the sauce.
- If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water and add it to the pan during the last few minutes of cooking.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated for a quick and delicious meal.
Serving advice
Serve the Filipino Chinese-style Beef Hilachas over steamed rice for a complete and satisfying meal. The rice will help absorb the flavorful sauce and provide a neutral base for the dish.
