Preparation

  1. 1.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, cumin, coriander, turmeric, salt, and sugar.
  2. 2.
Gradually add the warm water and vegetable oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. 3.
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. 4.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. 5.
Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  6. 6.
Punch down the dough and divide it into small portions. Roll each portion into a rope shape, about 30cm (12 inches) long.
  7. 7.
Shape each rope into a circle, overlapping the ends and pinching them together to seal.
  8. 8.
Dip each circle into a bowl of water, then roll it in sesame seeds, ensuring they stick to the surface.
  9. 9.
Place the sesame-coated circles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  10. 10.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  11. 11.
Remove from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack before serving.
