Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Plantains — Choose ripe plantains with yellow skin and black spots for a sweeter flavor. If you can't find plantains, you can substitute with ripe bananas, although the flavor will be slightly different.

Tips & Tricks

  • For an extra kick of heat, add a dash of hot sauce or sprinkle some crushed red pepper flakes.
  • Marinate the pork overnight for even more flavor.
  • Serve the Mustazzeddu with a squeeze of fresh lime juice for a burst of citrusy freshness.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can remove the cooked pork from the skillet and simmer the remaining liquid until it reduces to your desired consistency.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated for a quick and delicious meal.
