In this Marshallese adaptation of Poljički soparnik, we replace the original Swiss chard with taro leaves, a staple ingredient in Marshallese cuisine. Additionally, we incorporate traditional Marshallese vegetables like breadfruit and coconut into the filling, giving the dish a tropical twist. The use of aromatic spices such as turmeric, ginger, and lemongrass further enhances the flavor profile, creating a unique and delightful culinary experience. Preparation

1.In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add water and knead until a smooth dough forms. Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.

2.In a separate bowl, mix together the taro leaves, breadfruit, grated coconut, onion, garlic, turmeric powder, ginger powder, lemongrass, salt, and pepper.

3.Divide the dough into two equal portions. Roll out each portion into a thin rectangular sheet.

4.Spread half of the filling mixture evenly over one sheet of dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Place the second sheet of dough on top and press the edges to seal.

5.Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Carefully transfer the filled dough to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy.

6.Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before slicing into squares or triangles. Serve warm.
