Ingredients
In this adaptation, we infuse the Finnish dish Rosvopaisti with Filipino-American flavors. While the original dish is traditionally made with pork shoulder and seasoned with salt and pepper, our version incorporates a marinade of soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and spices. The slow-roasting technique remains the same, ensuring a tender and succulent pork, but the addition of Filipino-American flavors adds a unique twist to the dish. Preparation

1.In a bowl, combine soy sauce, vinegar, minced garlic, brown sugar, paprika, black pepper, dried oregano, dried thyme, and bay leaf.

2.Place the pork shoulder in a large resealable bag and pour the marinade over it. Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.

3.Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C).

4.Remove the pork shoulder from the marinade and place it in a roasting pan. Discard the marinade.

5.Cover the roasting pan with aluminum foil and roast the pork for 3-4 hours, or until the meat is tender and easily pulls apart with a fork.

6.Remove the foil and increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C). Roast for an additional 15-20 minutes to crisp up the skin.

7.Remove the pork from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

8.Serve the Filipino-American style slow-roasted pork with steamed rice and pickled vegetables.
