Ingredients

In this Filipino-American adaptation of Chorba frik, we incorporate elements of Filipino-American cuisine to create a unique flavor profile. The original Algerian dish is traditionally made with lamb or beef, but we substitute it with chicken to cater to the Filipino-American preference for poultry. Additionally, we infuse the soup with Filipino-American spices and aromatics such as garlic, ginger, and fish sauce, which add a distinct flavor to the dish. The use of frik, a cracked wheat commonly found in Algerian cuisine, remains a key ingredient in this fusion recipe. We alse have the original recipe for Chorba frik, so you can check it out.
