Treat your ingredients with care...
- Tofu — Press the tofu before cutting it into cubes to remove excess moisture and improve its texture.
- Bean sprouts — Blanching the bean sprouts briefly helps to retain their crunchiness while removing any potential bacteria.
- Peanut sauce — Adjust the consistency of the peanut sauce by adding water gradually until it reaches your desired thickness.
- Cucumber — Use a mandoline or a sharp knife to thinly slice the cucumber for an attractive presentation.
- Lettuce — Choose fresh and crisp lettuce leaves to provide a refreshing element to the dish.
Tips & Tricks
- For a spicier version, add more red chilies to the peanut sauce.
- Customize the dish by adding other vegetables such as blanched broccoli or sliced bell peppers.
- Add a squeeze of lime juice over the Tofu Medley for a tangy twist.
- If you prefer a milder flavor, reduce the amount of garlic and chilies in the peanut sauce.
- To save time, prepare the peanut sauce in advance and refrigerate it until ready to use.
Serving advice
Serve the Tofu Medley as a main course accompanied by steamed rice or as a filling for Indonesian-style wraps. Garnish with chopped peanuts and fresh cilantro for added flavor and visual appeal.
Presentation advice
Arrange the ingredients on a large platter, placing the lettuce leaves at the bottom as a bed for the other components. Arrange the tofu cubes, bean sprouts, cucumber slices, shredded cabbage, and boiled eggs in an aesthetically pleasing manner. Drizzle the peanut sauce over the top or serve it on the side in a small bowl.
