Treat your ingredients with care...
- Tofu — Pressing the tofu before cooking helps remove excess moisture, allowing it to absorb more flavor from the teriyaki sauce.
- Maple syrup — Use pure maple syrup for a rich and natural sweetness in the sauce.
- Rice vinegar — Opt for unseasoned rice vinegar to control the flavor balance in the teriyaki sauce.
- Sesame oil — Toasted sesame oil adds a nutty aroma and enhances the overall taste of the dish.
- Cornstarch — Mixing cornstarch with water before adding it to the sauce helps prevent clumping and ensures a smooth, thickened consistency.
Tips & Tricks
- For extra flavor, marinate the tofu in the teriyaki sauce for 30 minutes before cooking.
- Customize your teriyaki tofu by adding vegetables like bell peppers, broccoli, or snap peas.
- Adjust the sweetness and saltiness of the sauce according to your taste preferences.
- Serve the teriyaki tofu over steamed rice or alongside a fresh salad for a complete meal.
- Leftover teriyaki tofu can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
