Ingredients
While the original Aloo Pie is a deep-fried pastry filled with spiced potatoes, the Liaoning-style Potato Pancakes are pan-fried and have a different set of spices. The Liaoning version incorporates flavors such as star anise, Sichuan peppercorns, and ginger, which are characteristic of Liaoning cuisine. Additionally, the Liaoning-style Potato Pancakes have a different texture, with a crispy exterior and a soft interior, compared to the flaky pastry of the Aloo Pie.
