Ingredients

While the original British Bangers and Mash traditionally uses pork sausages and incorporates butter and cream into the mash, our Mediterranean version features leaner chicken or turkey sausages and replaces the butter and cream with olive oil and Greek yogurt. We also enhance the flavors with Mediterranean herbs and spices, giving it a fresh and aromatic twist. We alse have the original recipe for Bangers and Mash, so you can check it out.

  2. 2.
Place the sausages on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through and golden brown.
  3. 3.
In the meantime, boil the potatoes in a large pot of salted water until tender. Drain and set aside.

  6. 6.
Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth and bring to a simmer. Cook for 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
  7. 7.
Mash the boiled potatoes with a potato masher or fork until smooth. Stir in the Greek yogurt and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. 8.
Serve the sausages on a bed of creamy potato mash, drizzled with the Mediterranean herb-infused onion gravy. Garnish with fresh parsley.

Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Chicken or turkey sausages — Ensure they are fully cooked before serving. You can also grill or pan-fry them instead of baking.
  • Greek yogurt — Use plain, unsweetened Greek yogurt for a creamy texture. Adjust the amount according to your preference.

Tips & Tricks

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of lemon juice to the onion gravy.
  • Experiment with different Mediterranean herbs like rosemary or basil for a unique twist.
  • If you prefer a smoother mash, use a potato ricer or food processor.
  • Serve with a side of Mediterranean salad for a complete meal.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated the next day for a quick and delicious meal.

Serving advice

Serve the Mediterranean Bangers and Mash hot, with the sausages placed on top of the creamy potato mash. Drizzle the onion gravy over the sausages and mash, and garnish with freshly chopped parsley for a pop of color.

Presentation advice

For an appealing presentation, arrange the sausages diagonally on the potato mash, with the onion gravy cascading down the sides. Sprinkle some additional dried herbs on top for an extra touch of Mediterranean flair.
