Ingredients
The Philly Cheesesteak Bánh Mì takes inspiration from the traditional Vietnamese Bánh Mì but incorporates the flavors and ingredients of the iconic Philadelphia cheesesteak. Instead of the usual pork or pâté found in a traditional Bánh Mì, this adaptation features thinly sliced beef, sautéed onions, and melted cheese. The addition of pickled vegetables, cilantro, and sriracha mayo adds a Vietnamese twist to the classic Philly cheesesteak, resulting in a unique and flavorful combination. Treat your ingredients with care...
- Beef — For best results, use thinly sliced ribeye or sirloin steak.
- Baguette — Look for a crusty baguette with a soft interior for the perfect texture.
- Pickled vegetables — You can make your own pickled carrots and daikon radish by marinating them in a mixture of vinegar, sugar, and salt for a few hours before using.
Tips & Tricks
- For an extra kick of flavor, add thinly sliced jalapeños to the sandwich.
- Experiment with different types of cheese, such as Cheez Whiz or American cheese, for a more authentic Philly cheesesteak experience.
- If you prefer a milder taste, reduce the amount of sriracha mayo or use a milder hot sauce.
- Toasting the baguette before assembling the sandwich adds a nice crunch.
- Serve the Philly Cheesesteak Bánh Mì with a side of au jus or French fries for a complete meal.
