Ingredients

In this Chifa-inspired version of Butterkuchen, we incorporate Peruvian flavors to give the traditional German cake a unique twist. Instead of the traditional fruit toppings, we use caramelized pineapple, which adds a tropical sweetness to the cake. Additionally, we sprinkle cinnamon over the pineapple to enhance the flavor profile and create a fusion of German and Chifa cuisines. We alse have the original recipe for Butterkuchen, so you can check it out.

  • Pineapple — Make sure to slice the pineapple thinly and evenly to ensure even caramelization and distribution on the cake.

Tips & Tricks

  • For an extra touch of Peruvian flavor, you can sprinkle some powdered lucuma (a Peruvian fruit) over the cake before serving.
  • If you prefer a more caramelized pineapple topping, you can broil the cake for a couple of minutes after baking to achieve a slightly charred effect.
