Treat your ingredients with care...
- Potatoes — Make sure to boil the potatoes until they are tender but not mushy. This will ensure the right texture in the chaat.
- Sev — If you prefer a healthier option, you can bake the sev instead of frying it. Simply spread the sev on a baking sheet and bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 10-12 minutes until crispy.
Tips & Tricks
- For an extra kick of flavor, sprinkle some chaat masala and lemon juice on top of the assembled chaat.
- Customize the spice level by adjusting the amount of red chili powder and chaat masala according to your preference.
- You can add additional toppings like pomegranate seeds, chopped onions, or grated carrots for added texture and flavor.
- To save time, you can prepare the chutneys in advance and store them in the refrigerator.
- If you don't have access to sev, you can substitute it with crushed papdi (crispy fried dough) or crushed tortilla chips.
Serving advice
Serve the Homestyle Indian Chaat immediately after assembling to enjoy the perfect balance of flavors and textures. It is best enjoyed as a snack or appetizer.
Presentation advice
To enhance the presentation, use a wide and shallow bowl or plate to showcase the colorful layers of the chaat. Garnish with a sprinkle of chaat masala and a drizzle of chutneys on top.
