1.Wash the figs and remove the stems. Cut a small cross on the bottom of each fig.

2.In a saucepan, combine the sugar, water, cinnamon stick, orange zest, and orange juice. Bring to a gentle boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves.

3.Add the figs to the syrup and simmer over low heat for 30-40 minutes, or until the figs are tender and the syrup has thickened.
