Treat your ingredients with care...
- Turkish bread (simit) — If you can't find simit, you can use any crusty bread with a chewy texture.
- Tahini — Stir the tahini well before using as it tends to separate. You can also add a squeeze of lemon juice for extra flavor.
- Feta cheese — For a creamier texture, you can mix the crumbled feta cheese with a tablespoon of Greek yogurt.
Tips & Tricks
- For a spicier kick, sprinkle some red pepper flakes over the eggs.
- Experiment with different types of cheese such as goat cheese or kasar cheese for a unique twist.
- Serve with a side of Turkish tea or freshly squeezed orange juice for a complete Turkish breakfast experience.
- Add some fresh mint leaves to the cucumber slices for a refreshing flavor.
- If you prefer your eggs well-done, cook them for a few more minutes until the yolks are fully set.
Serving advice
Serve the Turkish-style breakfast on a large platter, allowing everyone to help themselves to their favorite ingredients. Encourage guests to assemble their own open-faced sandwiches by spreading tahini and honey on the warm bread, topping it with the fried egg, and adding their desired combination of vegetables, olives, and feta cheese.
Presentation advice
Arrange the colorful ingredients in an aesthetically pleasing way on the platter. Place the warm bread in the center and surround it with the sliced cucumber, tomatoes, olives, and crumbled feta cheese. Top the bread with the fried eggs and garnish with fresh parsley for a vibrant and appetizing presentation.
