In this Norwegian adaptation of Galbijjim, we incorporate traditional Norwegian spices like juniper berries and dill to infuse the beef ribs with a distinct Nordic flavor. The original Korean dish typically uses soy sauce and Asian spices, whereas our Norwegian-style recipe adds a unique twist to the flavors by incorporating local ingredients and seasonings. Preparation

1.Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F).

2.Heat the vegetable oil in a large oven-safe pot over medium heat.

3.Add the beef ribs and brown them on all sides. Remove the ribs from the pot and set aside.

4.In the same pot, add the sliced onions and minced garlic. Sauté until the onions are translucent.

5.Add the juniper berries, dill, and bay leaves to the pot. Stir well to combine.

6.Sprinkle the flour over the onion mixture and stir until the flour is well incorporated.

7.Slowly pour in the beef broth while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.

8.Return the beef ribs to the pot and add the carrots and potatoes.

9.Season with salt and pepper to taste.

10.Cover the pot with a lid and transfer it to the preheated oven.

11.Braise the beef ribs for 3-4 hours, or until the meat is tender and easily falls off the bone.

12.Remove the pot from the oven and skim off any excess fat from the surface of the sauce.

13.Serve the Norwegian-style Braised Beef Ribs hot, garnished with fresh dill.
