Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Mushrooms — Make sure to clean the mushrooms thoroughly before slicing them. If using shiitake mushrooms, remove the tough stems before slicing.
  • Ginger — Use fresh ginger for the best flavor. Peel the ginger before grating it into the soup.
  • Soy sauce — Opt for low-sodium soy sauce if you prefer to control the saltiness of the soup.

Tips & Tricks

  • For a heartier soup, you can add cooked noodles or tofu cubes.
  • Adjust the spiciness by adding more or less chili flakes according to your preference.
  • Garnish the soup with a drizzle of sesame oil for an extra burst of flavor.
  • Experiment with different types of Asian mushrooms to vary the taste and texture of the soup.
  • To make the soup more filling, serve it with steamed rice or crusty bread.
