Preparation

  1. 1.
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, bell pepper, garlic, cumin, chili powder, paprika, cilantro, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. 2.
Place a Gyoza wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the beef mixture onto the center of the wrapper.
  3. 3.
Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water. Fold the wrapper in half, creating a half-moon shape, and press the edges firmly to seal.
  4. 4.
Repeat the process with the remaining Gyoza wrappers and filling.
  5. 5.
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the Gyoza in a single layer, making sure they don't touch each other. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the bottoms are golden brown.
  6. 6.
Pour 1/4 cup of water into the skillet and immediately cover with a lid. Steam the Gyoza for 5 minutes, or until the filling is cooked through.
  7. 7.
Remove the lid and continue cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the bottoms are crispy.
  8. 8.
Serve the Mexican-style Gyoza hot with salsa or guacamole for dipping.

Tips & Tricks

  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the filling mixture.
