Preparation

  1. 1.
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, chopped onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, allspice, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. 2.
Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  3. 3.
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the meatballs to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 10-12 minutes. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
  4. 4.
To make the lingonberry sauce, in a small saucepan, combine the lingonberries, sugar, water, and lemon juice. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 5 minutes, until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. 5.
Serve the meatballs with the lingonberry sauce on the side or drizzled over the top. Enjoy!

Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Breadcrumbs — If you don't have breadcrumbs on hand, you can use crushed crackers or oats as a substitute.
  • Lingonberries — If you can't find lingonberries, cranberries can be used as a substitute for the lingonberry sauce.

Tips & Tricks

  • For extra flavor, you can add a splash of Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce to the meatball mixture.
  • To achieve a smoother texture, you can blend the onion and garlic in a food processor before adding them to the meatball mixture.
  • If the lingonberry sauce is too tart for your taste, you can add a bit more sugar to balance the flavors.
  • To keep the meatballs warm while preparing the lingonberry sauce, you can transfer them to a preheated oven at a low temperature.
