Treat your ingredients with care...
- Rye flour — Rye flour adds a unique flavor to the crust. If you prefer a milder taste, you can replace half of the rye flour with all-purpose flour.
- Norwegian Jarlsberg cheese — Jarlsberg cheese is a semi-hard cheese with a slightly nutty and sweet flavor. If you can't find Jarlsberg, you can substitute it with Swiss cheese or Gruyère.
- Smoked salmon — Look for high-quality smoked salmon with a delicate smoky flavor. It adds a wonderful richness to the pizza.
- Fresh dill — The fresh dill adds a refreshing herbal note to the pizza. If you're not a fan of dill, you can substitute it with fresh parsley or basil.
Tips & Tricks
- For a crispier crust, preheat your baking sheet or pizza stone in the oven before placing the rolled-out dough on it.
- Experiment with different toppings such as pickled herring, roasted vegetables, or lingonberry jam to create your own unique Lørdagspizza.
- If you prefer a spicier kick, sprinkle some chili flakes or drizzle hot sauce over the pizza before baking.
- To make the pizza dough in advance, you can refrigerate it overnight after the first rise. Just make sure to let it come to room temperature before rolling it out.
- Leftover Lørdagspizza can be enjoyed cold or reheated in the oven for a few minutes to regain its crispiness.
Serving advice
Serve the Lørdagspizza hot, straight from the oven. Cut it into slices and enjoy it as a main course or as part of a Norwegian-inspired feast. Pair it with a fresh green salad dressed with a light vinaigrette to balance the flavors.
Presentation advice
To enhance the visual appeal of the Lørdagspizza, garnish it with a few sprigs of fresh dill and a drizzle of olive oil before serving. The vibrant colors of the toppings will make the pizza even more enticing.
